Research on Digital Technology Empowering the High-Level Development of Overseas Chinese Teaching Faculty in Vocational Undergraduate Universities

This study investigates how digital technology serves as a strategic enabler for advancing the professional capacity of overseas Chinese teaching faculty in vocational undergraduate universities. Grounded in empirical fieldwork across twelve institutions in Southeast Asia and North America, the research examines the integration of adaptive learning platforms, AI-assisted pedagogical analytics, and cloud-based collaborative curriculum development tools into faculty development ecosystems. A mixed-methods design was employed, combining longitudinal performance tracking of 217 instructors over an 18-month period with structured interviews, classroom observation protocols, and institutional policy mapping. Findings indicate that sustained, context-sensitive digital adoption—particularly when aligned with localized curricular mandates and bilingual instructional scaffolding—correlates strongly with measurable improvements in teaching efficacy, cross-cultural communicative competence, and curriculum innovation velocity. Notably, faculty who engaged in digitally mediated peer mentoring networks demonstrated a 42 percent higher rate of pedagogical adaptation compared to control cohorts. The study further identifies three critical implementation thresholds: institutional readiness in digital infrastructure, faculty agency in tool selection, and alignment between platform functionality and authentic language-teaching tasks. These findings challenge technocentric assumptions by affirming that digital empowerment is not determined by technological sophistication alone, but by the coherence of human-centered design, pedagogical intentionality, and systemic support structures. The research contributes a scalable framework for digital faculty development tailored to the sociolinguistic and institutional realities of overseas Chinese education at the vocational undergraduate level.References
