Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the link between the triglyceride-glucose index (TyG) and the risk of death in adults diagnosed with gastric cancer, utilizing data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Method: To understand the relationship between TyG levels and mortality outcomes in gastric cancer patients, we applied Cox proportional hazards models, Kaplan-Meier curves, and restricted cubic spline analyses. Result: Our findings indicated that participants in the highest TyG quartile showed a significant rise in mortality from all causes, heart-related deaths, and gastric cancer compared to those in the lowest quartile. There was a linear correlation between TyG and both all-cause and cardiovascular mortality, underscoring TyG's potential as a prognostic marker. Conclusion: The research highlights a strong link between TyG and mortality rates in adults with gastric cancer, indicating that keeping track of TyG could be vital for clinical management and risk assessment in this group. Future investigations need to delve deeper into the biological mechanisms behind these associations.
