Abstract

In recent years, short videos have rapidly emerged as a highly influential and ubiquitous media format, fundamentally altering information consumption habits among college students. In the realm of higher education, their application has garnered increasing academic and practical attention, particularly within the context of ideological and political education. Characterized by brevity, precision, and ease of comprehension, short videos have introduced both transformative pedagogical opportunities and unprecedented challenges to university ideological education. This article takes the current application of short video platforms in ideological and political education as its foundational starting point. It comprehensively analyzes their distinct communication advantages, specifically focusing on media form innovation, technical algorithm matching, and the significant amplification of social attributes. Furthermore, the study deeply examines critical contemporary issues, including content production homogenization, the inherent contradiction between serious educational topics and entertaining digital expression, the formation of information cocoons caused by precise algorithmic recommendation, and the overall superficiality of long-term communication effects. Adopting a problem-oriented approach, this study proposes systematic and actionable optimization strategies. These include differentiated approaches tailored to specific vertical fields, narrative innovations that carefully balance solemnity with humor, algorithm-driven ethical agenda-setting, and robust value transformation through closed-loop feedback mechanisms. Ultimately, these comprehensive measures aim to significantly enhance short video platforms' capacity to support universities' fundamental mission of fostering moral integrity and holistic talent development, providing sustainable solutions for advancing ideological education in the digital new era.
